Engine Opel Astra 1.3 CDTi 95 Hp A13DTE Car engine specs

The Engine Opel Astra A13DTE is a modern small-capacity, four-cylinder in-line turbodiesel engine with a displacement of 1248 cc (1.3 Litre), commonly featured in the Opel Astra J generation from approximately 2009 to 2015. This unit is part of the Fiat/GM MultiJet engine family and is often marketed as CDTi or ecoFLEX due to its focus on fuel efficiency and low emissions (typically meeting Euro 5 standards). The engine is equipped with a common rail direct injection system and an exhaust turbocharger. It produces a power output of 70 kW (95 horsepower) at 4000 RPM and a peak torque of around 190 Nm at 1750 RPM. A notable technical feature is its DOHC 16-valve configuration, and crucially, it uses a timing chain rather than a belt for camshaft drive.

The Engine Opel Astra A13DTE engine is designed for economy, offering excellent fuel consumption figures and is primarily mated to a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission, driving the front wheels. While generally reliable, the 1.3 CDTi family has some known characteristics and potential maintenance points. Due to its small displacement and high power-to-weight ratio, it can feel sluggish at very low RPM before the turbocharger fully spools up. Owners should also be vigilant about timely oil changes and monitoring the condition of the timing chain and tensioner, as wear in these components is a common issue that can lead to significant engine problems if neglected. This engine was also used in other Opel/Vauxhall models like the Corsa D and Meriva B, in various states of tune.
